Help
Everything you need to know to get going, from signing up to exporting your data. It's free while in preview — no card required, no ads.
Getting started
Create an account with a name for your companion to call you, an email address, and a password of at least 8 characters — you'll also need to confirm you're 18 or older, since this product isn't for minors. From there, a short conversational onboarding sets up your companion, and then you land on Today, your home screen.
Confirming your email
We send a verification email the moment you sign up. Until you click it, you'll see a soft banner reminding you — it doesn't block anything, so you can start chatting with your companion right away while the email sits in your inbox.
Today and rituals
Today is your home screen: a time-aware greeting, a one-tap mood check-in, gentle nudges toward your goals, family activity, and 'rituals' — morning, evening and weekly modes that give the day a little shape without asking much of you.
Chatting with your companion
Chat lives at /app/chat, and replies stream in as they're written. On any reply you can copy it, save it as a memory, or ask your companion to try again. If you'd rather listen than read, turn on voice replies in Settings to have replies read aloud. Curious what actually happens to a message you send?
How memory works
Your companion keeps structured memories of what you tell it, separate from the raw conversation, so it still remembers once a chat has scrolled out of view. Every memory is visible in the Memory browser, where you can edit, pin, archive or delete it, and each one links back to the conversation it came from.
Goals
Create a goal and write down why it matters to you — your companion remembers the reason, not just the target — then log updates and progress as you go.
People and muting
Track the people in your life with their relation to you and their birthday, so your companion can ask about them naturally. If a relationship has become painful — a loss, a falling-out — you can mute a person so they're left out of prompts and journal entries.
Journal
Once a month, your companion writes a grounded journal entry drawn from your own memories, not a generic prompt. A 'Looking back' card on Today links straight to it.
Family spaces
Invite family members by code to share presence, stories and care notes — each with its own consent switch, so nothing is shared by default. Care notes about a specific person require that person's own opt-in. There's also a weekly family digest and a printable storybook view.
Safety plan and crisis support
Your private safety plan lives at /app/safety. If you're in crisis, the crisis support page lists free, confidential helplines matched to your country.
Settings
Settings is where you shape the experience: your companion's interaction style, an accent theme, accessibility options, the interface language (English, Thai, German, French or Spanish), and how long conversations are retained before they're cleared.
Two-factor authentication and devices
Turn on two-factor authentication with any authenticator app and you'll get 8 backup codes in case you lose your device. Settings also lists your active devices, so you can revoke any session you don't recognise.
Exporting or deleting your data
Export everything as a single JSON file at any time from Settings. You can also delete all of your memories, or delete your account and everything attached to it — deletion is immediate and permanent.
Still stuck?
Email hello@myaifamilyfriend.com and a real person will read it. This is a one-person operation, so a reply may take a few days rather than a few minutes — there's no phone line or live chat, but every message gets read.
